Hear her voice?
I love working with people who are really good at what they do, who come at whatever their special “it” is with a sense of passion, and who continue to grow even after they’ve gotten good enough that they aren’t continually fighting against their tools. I love watching artists grow into their art, into what might once have seemed limitations, and into their explorations of what is possible. Given that, I can say that my entire day this past Tuesday was a little slice of heaven, for I was surrounded by several such people working together as a team, working within several mediums, all focused upon a common goal, an upcoming episode exploring sustainably grown flowers and flower farmers for Joe Lamp’l's PBS show, Growing A Greener World. Joe, Theresa, Carl, David, Nathan, Debra, Diane, Dennis, Stacie, . . . can you possibly know what a treat it was to be a member of your team for the day in telling this story, to watch each of you craft your part of the telling of it just as beautifully as Stacie has done with her part here?
Pictured above is just one of the fruits that grew out of that project, a delicious, seasonal arrangement designed by Stacie Sutliff of Blush Custom Floral from flowers grown and just cut, on land tilled and lovingly cared for by Skagit Valley flower farming artist-magicians, Diane Szukovathy and Dennis Westphall of Jello Mold Farm.
I’m still smiling.
